The competition is included in the cultural calendar of the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo

 CONTEST REGULATIONS

The contest’s competition part consists of two categories:

• A vocal part
• An instrumental part

Competitors’ age groups

Competitors in the two sections (Vocal and Instrumental) are divided into four age groups:

• Group 1 – 5 – 8 years old
• Group 2 – 9 – 12 years old
• Group 3 – 13 – 16 years old
• Group 4 – 17 – 25 years old

 Attention! The groups are set according to the age of the predominant number of competitors. Each competitor is appointed to a certain age group according to his/her age at the time of the event. A photocopy of the participant’s birth certificate shall be submitted at registration.

І. Vocal part (pop, rock,jazz, stylized folklore)

 Individual vocal performers (pop, rock, jazz, stylized folklore) have to choose one song. The performance must last for about 4 minutes.

Vocal competitors will be selected in advance on the basis of a demo (NOT studio recording) and a link of the performance on the Internet, sent to the following e-mail: elita_art@abv.bg until 30 March 2018. The invited participants will be notified by 21 April 2018. The competition will be held in two parts: Semi Final and Final. Assessment with individual protocols. Individual vocal performers (pop, rock, jazz, stylized folklore) have to choose one song. The performance must last for about 4 minutes. Participants for the first part (semi-finals) will be awarded after the performance of each age group. The participants with the highest scores will continue in part  two (finals). The finalists are presented with a single song of choice up to 4 minutes. About vocal groups – two songs, one in their native language and by a composer from their country, the second optional, with a total duration of up to 8 minutes.

 The performance must be accompanied by live music or a recording.
Lip sync is not allowed!

It is not allowed to change setlists!

.  ІІ. Instrumental part (piano, violin, viola, violoncello, contrabass, guitar, bouzouki, accordion, flute,chamber ensembles)

Participants perform at least two pieces of different styles with a total duration:

• First group – up to 7 minutes
• Second group – up to 10 minutes
• Third group – up to 12 minutes
• Fourth group – up to 15 minutes

If desired, the participants in the competition can perform a work by the composer Alexander Tanev

The jury will award „The Tanevi Family Award“ for the best performance of his work.

The event organizers will not provide musical instruments other than the piano.

Each competitor must bring their own instruments. If any of the instruments requires an accompanist,  please inform the event organizers in advance.

Candidates submit a request for participation and a contract (which can be downloaded from our site).

 Technical requirements                   

1. All backing tracks must be recorded on a CD, a CD-R, and a flashdrive or could be sent via email with the application form.
2. Each track must be recorded on a separate CD or CD-R with the performer’s names and the name, author and duration of the track.

      General requirements

1. A filled in application must be sent via e–mail by the 30.03.2018 e-mail address : elita_art@abv.bg
2. All formations’ instructors are responsible for any accident that may occur concerning their participants during the festival.

4. The participants have to write their own invoice details, organization or representative’s address.
5. Registration for the participants will be at the performing day from 8:30 until 10:00. If the registration hours are not met, the participants are disqualified. If you can’t make a sound check / acoustic rehearsal at the indicated times, we accept that you don’t need one.
6. The costs of transport, meals and overnight stays are at the expense of the participants.
7. The organizers of the contest reserve the right to photograph, film, record and distribute the performances without paying rights and compensation to performers.
8. By filling an application form contractors declare that they agree with the terms of this Regulation.
9. Participants are rated at a maximum of 10 points.
10. The jury has the right not to award all prizes.
11. In case of non-compliance, the participants are disqualified.
12. If the participant does not appear, the fee is refunded.

* In the case of insufficient participants in a particular style, age or category, at the discretion of the organizers there will be a merger of such

• For groups – 10 euro per participant

There is no participation fee for the participants in festival, for children with disabilities, or orphaned children. 

Awards

• A Grand-Prix award in both vocal and instrumental categories  – statuettes

• First place award –  plaque in each age group and category
• First,Second and third place award – certificates end medal
• An award for the audience’s favourite
• Other awards, given by the sponsors of the event
• „The Tanevi Family Award“ for the best performance of his work

The jury has the right to not give away each and every award!

Competitors’ age groups

   І. Vocal part (pop, rock and jazz)

Individual performers – they have to choose two songs, one in their native language and one optional. The performance must last for about 8 minutes.

Groups – they have to choose two songs, one in their native language and one optional. The performance must last for about 10 minutes.

Live music or a recording are required.

Lip sync is not allowed!

It is not allowed to change setlists!

• Singers must perform one song in their native language and the other one is optional.
• (Optional) – There will be a competition for an original musical piece dedicated to the city of Veliko Tarnovo – it could be either a song or an instrumental.

Competitors are divided into three age groups:

• Group 1 – 7 to 12 years old

Competitors will have to perform two pieces. Each group has a time limit:

• Group 1 – up to 7 minutes
• Group 2 – up to 10 minutes
• Group 3 – up to 15 minutes

The event organizers will not provide musical instruments other than the piano. Each competitor must bring their own instruments. If any of the instruments requires an accompanist, please inform the event organizers in advance.

Third category, in which the competitors will have the chance to participate in the festival part

   IІІ.Vocal and instrumental 

The category includes rock, pop, gospel, soul, electronic, hip-hop, Christian rock music. All participants must send a demo of their song. The performance must last no more than 30 minutes. Participants should bring their own instruments.

Technical requirement                       

1. All backing tracks must be recorded on a CD, a CD-R, and a flashdrive or could be send via email.
2. Each track must be recorded on a separate CD or CD-R with the performer’s names and the name, author and duration of the track.

        General requirements

2. All formations’ instructors are responsible for any accident that may occur concerning their participants during the festival.

 Attention!

Hotel rooms can be booked until 15.04.2017

An invoice will be issued only when a payment document is presented.

Participation fee:

• For individual performers – 30 euro
• For groups – 50 euro

There is no participation fee for the participants in festival, for children with disabilities, or orphaned children.

Evaluation criteria

• Repertoire
• Musical talent
• Artistic abilities
• Original costumes and make-up

Awards

• A Grand-Prix award in both vocal 250 evro and instrumental categories 250 evro, statuettes

• First place award –  plaque in each age group and category
• First,Second and third place award – certificates end medal
• An award for the audience’s favourite
• Other awards, given by the sponsors of the event

The jury has the right to not give away each and every award!
